Unemployment Drops In Palmetto State

South Carolina now at 4.3 percent

The unemployment rate in South Carolina fell in April as a new record was set for people having jobs in the state.

The jobless rate fell one-tenth of a percentage point to 4.3 percent in April according to numbers released Friday by the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce.

Here in the Upstate, Greenville had the lowest unemployment at 3.1 percent while Union County had the highest at 4.3 percent.

Spartanburg 3.4

Pickens 3.5

Oconee 3.5

Laurens 3.7

Greenwood 3.9

Abbeville 3.9

Cherokee 4.2

Union 4.3
