The man charged with murder after a Taylors woman was found dead inside her burning home in 2012 was found guilty on Wednesday.
The body of Alice Owenby, 63, was found inside her burning McConnell Road home on Feb. 21, 2012.
Investigators soon discovered that Owenby died from a gunshot wound to the head, and that someone started the fire in her home after she was killed.
Billy Burch was arrested on March 1, 2012. Burch was charged with murder, burglary first degree, grand larceny, arson third degree and a weapons offense.
Arrest warrants stated Burch shot Owenby after breaking into her home and then set fire to the house with the intent to damage it.
Greenville County deputies also testified in an earlier hearing that they found a pair of boots belonging to Burch at his parent's house that had Owenby's blood on them.
A jury found Burch guilty on all charges on Wednesday afternoon.
He was sentenced to life in prison on the charges of murder and burglary. He was also sentenced to five years each for the arson, larceny and the weapons charges.
