Kyle Herbert - Democratic

I have spent my entire adult life within South Carolina and I truly love the people within this state. I have over fifteen years experience in the accounting field with a majority of my background within the healthcare accounting and finance realm. I am currently employed by Palmetto Health in Columbia, South Carolina where I am licensed as both a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and a CMA (Certified Management Accountant). I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond and an MBA from The Citadel. In addition, I have attained fellowship status with both the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives.

In addition to my work experience I have a written an accounting textbook titled "Hospital Reimbursement: Concepts and Principles". The purpose of this book is to educate and inform those about the complexities of healthcare accounting. I am also an Adjunct Professor who teaches accounting within the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina.

Last year I was named a Fulbright Scholar and I had the opportunity to teach accounting to both physicians and students at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. Several years ago I created the Bright Future Scholarship for Foster Care Children which provides partial academic scholarships to foster care children within our great state. Finally, I am a devout Christian who is a parishioner at Corpus Christi Church where I am also a member of the finance council.
