Tom Ervin was raised in Honea Path, South Carolina. He attended Belton Honea Path High School where he played football, and was President of the Student Body. He then went on to graduate from Erskine College in 1974, and the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1977.
In 1979, Ervin was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives from House District 7 in Anderson County, S.C. He was re-elected to the House in 1981 without opposition. At age 32, he became the youngest Circuit Court Judge to ever be elected in South Carolina. He has also served as First President of the Foothills Community Foundation, and as CEO of Foothills United Way. Tom is a Conservative Independent Republican, and a small business owner.
Tom lives in Greenville with his wife Kathryn. He owns several radio stations in the Upstate, and understands the problems of over-taxation, over-regulation and rising healthcare costs firsthand.
