Publix, Blue Bell recall ice cream

Blue Bell and Publix Supermarkets say they have been notified by a supplier that certain batches of cookie dough pieces used by both companies to produce cookie dough ice cream maybe contaminated with the strain of Listeria bacteria that can cause serious, occasionall fatal, illness in young children, the elderly and people with compromised immune systems.  A company statement says Publix Premium brand chocolate cookie dough ice cream made with the recalled ingredient from the Aspen Hills company was distributed in Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Tennessee as well as North and South Carolina.  The Publix brand carries a sell-by date of May 17, 2017, and the UPC 000-41415-03843.
